Gutting and Rebuilding the Bathroom - Current House (The last time I ever do this!!!)

Well, because Tripod sucks, I lost this page and had to do it all again. I'll try to put it back together, but it will probably be lacking some of the ha has that it origionally had......

Friday 5/30/2003 - Took pictures of the bathroom before the gutting process.

Saturday 5/31/2003 - The first thing I needed to do before tearing anything out, is to add shut off valves. I'm amaized that they didn't put any in when the house was built (I guess it wasn't required then). Since Gary and Brandon woosed out, I figured I'd be doing this job myself; I was wrong. Jen wanted to help, so I set her up with a pry bar and a hammer and she went to town. Whe was ripping tile off left and right!!! She also helped me clean up. What a good chicken she is!!!

Sunday 6/1/2003 - Jen decided to go to brunch with her family, so I worked on the bathroom myself. I got the rest of the tile down as well as the wall that seperated the old shower and closet. This will be the new shower. I also got the old led pan out (it was heavy!!!). Jen came home and took a nap while I busted the rest of the tile up.

Monday 6/2/2003 - I removed part of the sub-floor to check out the plumbing. I got stuck because the old shower drain pipe was packed into the soil line with a led packing. I needed to call a plumber for this; it is not something that I would be able to do. The plumber took about two and a half houres. I made good use of this time by stripping the wall paper from the bedroom.

Tuesday 6/3/2003 - Not a very productive day. I wasted hours at Home Depot trying to find my shower pan. Finding help at Home Depot is like fishing with a piece of crap; you wait and wait, and the only thing you wind up with is crap. I decided to go Lowes. They had the shower pan, and I got some help with some high hat lights too. I didn't take any pics on Tuesday (sorry)....

Wednesday 6/4/2003 - I got the plumbing squared away, fot the showe stall framed out, and the shower pan set in.

Thursday 6/5/2003 - I got the cement board flooring down and all of the electrical wiring completed (Two high hat lights on dimmer switches and a GFI outlet). I wanted to get the new shower fictures in, but did not have the fittings I needed, so I figured that would have to wait. I'm to the point where I am ready to sheet rock. I will be taking Friday off to go down town to do some genealogy stuff, so there will be no posts tomorow.

OK, sorry folks, but there was a huge chunk of time that I couldn't post any pics because I had no more room on my server. I even temporally deleted all the pics from another page, and was still starved for room. Well, I've got the web page problem under control (with a site just for home improvements). Well, I've got the drywall up, and the joints have been taped. I am currently in the process of sanding and respackling the joints (this takes time). My plan is to pain the ceiling, wallpaper the walls, tile the floor, and put the fictures in. Well, here are some pics:

OK, I've been a little lazy as of late. I haven't been totally slacking. I've taped and sanded all of the drywall, and primed it. Then, I'd notice a spot that I wasn't happy with and do it over again. I also got all my cuts done with the wet saw (that my brother borrowed of his buddy Joe) Well I finnally got to the point where I was happy enough with the walls to wallpaper. I did the papering, and put the shower head on, the switch plate on, and the trim rings for the lighting. The wallpaper scheme is a white on white pattern with a blue marbled textured paper for the main wall. Here are teh pics:

OK, I've been working on stuff, but just not always taking pictures. I put the tile floor in (along with the tile for a baseboard), hung the mirror, put in the new tolit (and criustned it!!!), and put in the new sink. Here are some pics:
